The Challenge: To
Repair 5 Equally Disabled
CBX’s in the Shortest
Time
The Plan: Tom & Dave
Neimeyer, Mitch Banks and
Jim Burris modify five 1981
and 1982 CBX’s and
gave them the following problems:
1. Replaced metal battery
terminal bolt with nylon
one painted to look like
metal.
2. Replaced Main Fuse with plastic piece same color and size as
original.
3. Ignition key wired to horn. Turn key horn blows.
4. Neutral wire unhooked. Bike won’t start.
5. Microscopic wire placed from head to inside of spark plug cap.
Bike will start but only run on 4 cylinders.

Weis.
The Chronology:
10:27 : Contest Starts
10:37 : Dave Hunter’s
bike starts
10:40 : Dave Hunter’s
bike runs
10:42 : Contest stopped.
The judges realize that the
#1 disabling item had not
been done to the bike Dave
Hunter is working on. The
judges disable the Dave Hunter
bike and contest resumes.
10:45 : Dave McMunn bike
starts
10:46 : Dave Hunter bike
finished! The winner!
10:48 : Brian Weis' bike
starts
10:49 : Dave McMunn bike
finished! 2nd place!
10:49 : Jann Ringwalda bike
starts
10:50 : Jann Ringwalda bike
finished! 3rd place!
10:52 : Mike Cecchini bike
starts
10:55 : Mike Cecchini bike
finished! 4th place.
11:00 : Contest ends. Dave
Ditner continues and his
bike starts at 11:02.
