ICOA
Rally in Shippensburg,
PA September 12 thru
15, 2003
Hosted By Dennis & Susan McCartney, Jack & Nancy Gutshall & Mickey
Cohen |
Once again it’s our
pleasure to host the annual
Fall Mid Atlantic Regional
Rally.
This year our National
Director, Mike Barone, has
arranged for us to use the
Shippen Place Hotel in Shippensburg,
PA. You’ll notice that
it says “Hotel” not “Motel”.
Yes folks that’s right.
We’re going a bit “upscale” this
time. Mike has arranged for
a special room rate of $69.00
per night (plus tax) which
is a fantastic rate for a
first class hotel like this.
That rate also includes continental
breakfast and free passes
to the local fitness center.
Call The Shippen Place Hotel
at (717) 532-4141 and mention
you’re coming for the
CBX Rally in order to receive
the low rate. Any questions,
ask for Barbara.
Please register for the
rally with the staff at the
front desk when you arrive
and they’ll give you
a rally package. Take a look
at this link to see Shippen
Place: http://www.shippenplace.com/
We’ll be at the Shippen Place Hotel from noon Friday September
12 on and for those of you that can make it that day we’re
organizing a ride to dinner that will leave the hotel at 4:30 PM.
We’ll be headed about an hour southeast to the town of Thurmont,
MD to a place that comes highly recommended called the
Cozy Restaurant.
Click here for info on the
Cozy: http://www.cozyvillage.com/dining.html
And here’s what’s on the menu: http://www.cozyvillage.com/dine/buffets.html
Some advice from folks
who have been here before:
Skip lunch Friday because
you’re going to have
one of the best dinners you’ve
ever had and you’ll
want to save lots of room
for it!
After dinner it’s
back to the Shippen Place
where we can enjoy the music
from a live band performing
in the while we have our
usual parking lot b.s. session
in the rear of the hotel.
One important note here:
Pennsylvania liquor control
laws require that any alcohol
consumed on the hotel premises
(other than in your room)
must be purchased at the
hotel. Please do not bring
cases of beverages to the
parking lot for consumption.
One other note: The local
law enforcement is a nice
crew who will be doing everything
they can to make our visit
a pleasant one. In return
we would remind you that
we are not in a motel out
in the country so burnouts,
wheelies, etc really have
to be kept in check this
time.
Saturday morning we’ll
start from 8 to 10 AM with
a combination continental
breakfast and tech session
in the meeting room right
off the main lobby. We’ll
do some table top tech work
like clean, strip and rebuild
some brake calipers, master
cylinders and maybe do a
brush job if anyone has a
CBX that needs one. We’ll
bring the brushes! We’ll
also have some of the club
technical whiz guys on hand
to answer questions on other
topics.
At 10:00 Saturday we’ll
line the bikes up in front
of the hotel for a photo
session.
Following that we’ll
head out to the Seven Points
Marina at Raystown Lake.
Raystown Lake was built by
the Corps of Engineers to
stimulate tourism in the
Juniata Count area of PA
and is about 85 miles from
the hotel. When we arrive
at the Marina we can have
lunch, got for a boat ride
or just feed the fish. Following
our visit to the lake we’ll
resume our ride thru Juniata
county and wind up back at
the Shippen Place Hotel.
Dinner Saturday night will
be at the hotel followed
again by live entertainment
in the lounge or outside
if weather permits along
with the usual parking lot
b.s. session.
One important provision
for those of you bringing
trailers to the event. Trailers
are to be parked in the church
parking lot located diagonally
to the left of the hotel
parking lot in the rear.
Trailers must be moved out
of the church parking lot
on Sunday morning by 8 AM
so when you get up Sunday
just move your rigs over
to the hotel parking lot.

seeing all of you in Shippensburg!
