What Products Do We Use on our Bikes?

Accel Coils and Wires

We do offer these because they make the CBX fire up much faster and run stronger. Bought ours from Clint Hooper way back when and they’re still going strong! Click here for more info.

Alternator Conversion

This brilliant design is by Stefan Jung a CBX owner from Germany. We tried it after one of our alternator bearings seized and fried the clutch plates. This happened because the spring in the stock CBX alternator puts a heavy load on the small bearings. We also tried it because of the strong recommendation from other CBX owners who had used it. It puts out more power (430 watts vs. 335-350 watts Stock) so you can run additional lights, heated grips, or heated coats without straining the electrical system. The best part is no more changing brushes! CBXman.com is the exclusive dealer for this kit in North America. Click here for more info.

Chains and Sprockets

We convert our early models to 530 chains and sprockets and use either DID or RK chain with good results. We use chain wax instead of oil to minimize the mess and have had good results with it. Click Here for More Info

DP Sintered Brake Pads

Out of all the pads on the market today we have found these to be the longest lasting most effective aftermarket pad available. The only pads better than this are stock Honda pads which we will be happy to order for you but they’re a lot more money! Click here for more details.

Fuel

We believe it’s important to stick with brand name gasoline so we use Sunoco 93 octane as much as possible. When we have to use off brand gasoline we always use premium. We have been known to use a bit of Octane Booster for drag racing but do not recommend it on a regular basis.

Oil

We use Mobil 1 in all of our high performance bikes and have had great success with it. However, in light of recent grade and content changes Mobil has had to come out with motorcycle specific oil which is what must be used in motorcycles now and it is much higher priced than old Mobil 1. In light of this we are testing Golden Spectro 4 which is a blend of synthetic and regular oil. The results have been good so far with the engines running only a bit hotter with Spectro than with Mobil 1 and a bit quieter with Spectro. We are strong believers in synthetic oil and recommend either of these only.

K & N Air Filters

We always replace the stock air cleaner with a K & N filter on any bike we are going to keep. K & N Filters are easy to clean and re-oil and make more horsepower. We also feel that they, in combination with Accel Coils and wires contribute to easier starting. On top of that the stock foam air filter can break down over time and pieces of it can clog your intake. Click here for more info on K&N Filters.

Pingel Fuel Petcocks

They flow better and look better than stock. What else do you need? Click here for more info.

Tires

Lots of opinions on this area. We use Metzler 130 (up one size from standard) ME55 Metronic’s on the rear and ME33 Lazer’s up front. We have never lost traction on dry pave and have always felt comfortable in the wet with these. Lots of guys are getting good results with Bridgestone Dual Compound Spitfire Tires. We stock both here at CBXMAN.com

Por-15 Fuel Stabilizer and POR-15 Fuel Tank Sealer

We are a dealer for these products and wanted to share them with you because they work. We use the fuel stabilizer any time the bike won’t be used for more than thirty days and don’t even bother draining the carbs. We seal all our tanks with their Tanks sealer No CBX should go without having the tank sealed and this is what we use. More Info.

XL-1 Motorcycle Wash & Quik Shot One Step Detailer

We began using this product back in the mid 1990’s and bought it directly from the manufacturer, Medwill Industries. Since then Spectro Oil Company has acquired the XL-1 Products and offers them as part of its product line. To wash your bike all you do is spray XL-1 on (Be sure your bike is cool) and hose it off with a standard garden hose. Dry your bike off and step back and see how great it looks. We’ve been amazing our friends for years now by washing their bikes for them to show them how easy it is with XL-1. XL-1 has unbeatable cleaning power blended to perfection for use on all types of street bikes, dirt bikes, ATV's and PWC's. The unique blend of grease cutters and ph balanced cleaning agent’s powers off dirt, grease, grime, bugs, brake dust and road film. XL-1 is gentle enough to use every day without fading or stripping wax, decals, pin-striping or custom paint jobs. Use XL-1 for a sparking, streak-free clean that leaves bikes. You won’t believe how easy it is to keep your bikes looking their best with XL-1. The Quik Shot One Step Detailer is a neat combination cleaner-wax that belongs in everybody’s tank bag. Quik Shot is great for on the road detailing and bug removal. Cleans and polishes in one step. These are two of the most highly recommended products we carry!
